Creating content

You can upload content in two main ways - to the site as a whole, or to groups you are a member of. The way creating content works on qvox.org is very similar to Livejournal. This can be confusing at first, as to add content to a group you just go through everything in the usual way and make some selections at the end. To add any information, go to the top right when you are logged in and select "Create Content". This will then give you a variety of options.

Qvox.org is a very big site, and there's lots to do. This can be confusing for new members! Here's a rough guide to what's in each site section.

Groups
Groups are the guts of the site. Groups are like little subsites. You can set these up for any groups you're part of, and people can use it as a webpage, upload things for other members and so on. More on this later! Most content types can be posted into groups.

Terms of service

Normally this would be full of legal jargon, but we don't have a lawyer (offers welcome, however) and would prefer just to say what we mean.

The Queer Web Project was started out of a lack of good, fully featured web sites for queers to use. It is designed to be a safe space for all queers and queer identified projects. We define queer space as a place:

  • For people of all genders,
  • For people of all sexualities,
  • For people of all sexes,
  • For people who pursue all kinds of relationship arrangements,

Here are some of the services the Queer Web project wishes to offer.

Queer Groupware

Groupware refers to related, integrated technology used in tandem for a specific purpose. Yahoo groups is currently used by a lot of queer groups: and combines email lists, file uploads and a shared calendar. Other groups use social networking sites such as Facebook and Myspace to publicize their group

Current site status

The site is currently in pre-alpha stage. You are welcome to sign up and use what its available, but be aware things will change unexpectedly and in strange ways!

Currently we are working towards a 0.1 release, which should do everything Yahoo Groups does. You can see our milestones on [our development page](http://trac.queerwp.net/qwp_drupal/roadmap)

Mission

The Queer Web Project aims to make a friendly, welcoming community, enabling communication and information sharing across a global community of queers, building bridges between disparate queer communities. We aim to tie together a number of unsatisfactory, unrelated web technologies the queer community currently uses in the absence of something specifically for us.
