Queer Web Project Handbook

Site tour

Qvox.org is a very big site, and there's lots to do. This can be confusing for new members! Here's a rough guide to what's in each site section.

Groups
Groups are the guts of the site. Groups are like little subsites. You can set these up for any groups you're part of, and people can use it as a webpage, upload things for other members and so on. More on this later! Most content types can be posted into groups.
Blogs
This is an index of all our site user's blogs. You can post to your own blog by going to create content>blog entry.
Books
Most content on this website is freestanding. The books system allows you to make content that has a distinct order, or collaboratively author book or zine. This help page is part of a book - the books section is a catalog of all the book content people are writing on this site. We hope this can be a great way of making useful resources together!
Calendar
This is a central calendar of all the events listed on qvox.org. If you add events to groups, they show up here. Alternatively you can add events to the main site calendar directly.
Feeds
Qvox.org imports news feeds from other sites using web syndication. These are then shown on various points of the site, and added to our archive. This will make a great resource of tagged, dated news articles ideal for research or finding out about particular topics.
Forums
A place to chat about individual groups, the site as a whole and the queer movement in general.
Listings
We want this section to be a directory of queer services, groups and NGOs tagged by area so you can find out what's going on near you. This also shows any venues or physical locations that have been added to the database.
Map
This shows any location based information we have: venues, users, groups and so on on an interactive map
